In this project by Marc Bohlen, I designed, built and programmed a serial controlled motor control circuit using a PIC microcontroller, an Allegro h-bridge, opto-isolators and various other components. These were used to lift speakers, causing them to protrude from boxes so that they could make announcements to other boxes and people in the room. Full documentation of the project is available here.
