Tribot (v.2)
Behavioral Sculpture
v.1 a collaboration with Rhya Tamasauskas .
2004-2006.

Tribot continues the investigation into how living things relate to lifelike things. A dog, a three-legged robot, and a human mediator are confined to a room. The interactions between the three are documented on video. The dog susses out the robot, while taking cues from the person. The robot flails and gets tangled up. The mediator tries to keep the dog engaged, and the robot engaging. The result is a mix of intuition and forced socialization. During exhibition, the machine is displayed alongside the sketch, and the video documentation.
